EP 19: Interior Design Is More Than Pretty Spaces, It’s also self-care with Rebecca Plumb of StudioPlumb
About Rebecca: Rebecca started her career as a graphic designer, managed creative teams and co-owned a marketing and creative agency. At the age of 42, after 8 years running what she thought was her dream company, she took a big leap into the unknown and went back to her first love of interior decor. Studio Plumb was launched in January 2018 and have been in full-on learning mode ever since. Like many designers she spent her childhood rearranging her bedroom and was lucky enough to have parents who were chronic DIYers and let her get wild with it. I’ve always been very affected by the aesthetics of my environment and am happiest in a space that’s thoughtfully designed. She is the mother of a 4 year old, a law enforcement wife and is addicted to apps, tools and ways to improve efficiency and internal growth. Having struggled with depression, imposter syndrome, shyness and confidence issues, she has made it her life’s practice to push through discomfort and try new things. In December 2017 she became the volunteer host of @cm_sacramento a free breakfast lecture series for the creative community. The Sacramento chapter is one of 200 worldwide and exists to not only celebrate a city’s creative talent but also promote an open space to connect with like-minded people. Speaking to 200 people every month has 100% cured her public speaking phobia so she’s always encouraging folks to JFDI (just freaking do it), whatever it is they’re dreaming of. ⠀⠀
